Carl’s Jr. brings back Paris Hilton along with Hannah Ferguson to promote their Texas BBQ Thickburger. A great commercial can entice one to give a burger a try. However, I have done the taste test for you and can tell you if the Texas BBQ Thickburger is deserving of all the hype. I also reviewed the customer service provided to me at the Carl’s Jr. location where I got my burger. This review also includes detailed Nutrition Facts for all three versions of the Carl’s Jr. Texas BBQ Thickburger (the Single, 1/3 pound and the 1/2 pound)
Carl’s Jr. Texas BBQ Thickburger Commercial
Hannah Ferguson, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and Texas native is the newest spokes model for the Carl’s Jr. Texas BBQ Thickburger. Hannah Ferguson will be joined by Paris Hilton who will have a cameo appearance. The new commercial is reminiscent of Paris Hilton’s 2005 “I Love Paris” commercial where she washed her black Bentley while sensually enjoying a burger. This time in the “I Love Texas” commercial it’s a bikini-clad Hannah Fergusons turn to wash her car while enjoying a Texas BBQ Thickburger. Paris Hilton pulls up to help, also wearing a bikini and says “You missed a spot”.
Customer Service Review
To try the Texas BBQ Thickburger sandwich I went to the drive-thru at the Carl’s Jr. at 9840 Carmel Mountain Road in San Diego, CA. The server was friendly and service was quick. I got my order and proceeded to the parking lot to take pictures and to try it while it was still hot.
However, when I took it apart to take pictures of the inside I noticed that there was very little BBQ sauce. I walked back in to have them add more BBQ sauce. I showed it to the cashier (the same guy that took my order in drive thru), he agreed that there was very little sauce and asked the cook to add more sauce. She complained that she had already put the correct amount on the sandwich before even looking at it. She went ahead and added more sauce and wrapped it back up. Because I was able to see the grill area from the counter I was able to see that she did not add anything extra to the sandwich. So, I was comfortable that it was safe to eat.
The other issue with this visit was that the fries were served cold and stale. I should have taken them back as well, but I was too focused on the lack of BBQ sauce to think of it at the time.
The Carl’s Jr. Texas BBQ Thickburger
The Carl’s Jr. Texas BBQ Thickburger comes in three sizes, the Single, 1/3 pound or the 1/2 pound. The Single is made from a 100% pure beef patty, while the 1/3 and 1/2 pound patties are made from Black Angus beef. The other difference is that the single uses their regular seeded bun while the 1/3 and 1/2 pound versions use their new fresh-baked bun. The rest of the ingredients remain the same for the three sandwiches with American cheese, Smoked Brisket, Mesquite BBQ Sauce and Crispy Fried Jalapeño & Onion Strips.
The Texas BBQ Thickburger Review
Let’s start with the misleading promotional photo for the Texas BBQ Thickburger. The photo shows the burger overflowing with brisket, Jalapeño & Onion Strips and BBQ Sauce. Well, in reality there was very little of any of these items actually on the burger. I did go back and ask for more BBQ sauce because it looked too dry otherwise. Here is a side by side photo so you can see what I mean.

The Texas BBQ Thickburger was not as spicy as I thought it was going to be. I liked the mild kick of the Jalapeño & Onion Strips. The American cheese was barely noticeable. The Smoked Brisket with the Mesquite BBQ sauce was very good. I just wish there was more of it. Overall, I found the Texas BBQ Thickburger to be a great tasting burger.
